There once was a slow-driving hearse
Whose windows were covered with verse
And the poet inside
Who had tragically died
Thus ensured that the mourners felt worse

Is this funny? I know limericks are meant to be. I suppose I'm not in a terribly funny mood - I have a half-started essay due yesterday. Curse you, twin demons of distraction and procrastination!
Thrown together, admittedly, at the last minute. I hadn't intended to enter because firstly, I'm no poet, and secondly, I could not justify taking the time to concentrate on this. However, there is nothing like an overdue deadline to stir the creative juices, and so here it is. Is it mean to try to make people feel even worse than they already do at your funeral? For `GaioumonBatou's workshop on Limericks - check out the ~Writers-Workshop project for more such madness! |
